Thanks to Eat Out for these 15 Dog-Friendly Places To Eat in JHB!

From charming garden cafés to sidewalk coffee shops, these dog-friendly spots in Jozi will keep the whole family happy.

Don’t forget that Walkhaven Dog Park also has an amazing restaurant and bar as well as their very PAWsome Pizza-Mutt!

Arbour Café & Courtyard (Illovo)

This French-inspired cafe and crêperie are often populated by breakfast and coffee enthusiasts on summer days. The team prides itself on delicious and wholesome food made from fresh ingredients. The gluten-free buckwheat galettes (savoury French pancakes) attract those looking for a healthy alternative. They do welcome dogs but are situated in the quaint Birdhaven shopping centre, so do keep your furry friend on a leash.

The Brazen Head (Fourways)

Serving pub grub and traditional fare with customary Irish hospitality and music, The Brazen Head also welcome canines outside.

Café Hemingways (Kyalami)

Dogs are seen to first with a bowl of water and a treat, then the artisanal on-trend bistro offers an eclectic menu to the human folk. Dogs are allowed on the veranda area only.

Doppio Zero (Greenside)

This was the first of the Doppio Zeros. Buzzy and busy, this spot offers coffee and croissants from the beginning of the day through to the night. Dogs settle on the wide patio with their owners.

Eat Your Heart Out (Maboneng)

Your dog is the first priority at Eat Your Heart Out, where they’ll be seen to with a water bowl. You can then relax and eat something from the Jewish-inspired men and take in the buzzy vibe of Maboneng.

Hell’s Kitchen (Melville)

Despite the tough rocker image, dogs rock up too. The food is seared and successful, with drinks on the speakeasy side.

Hudson’s (Parkhurst)

This pretty marvellous burger joint has a reputation for great ingredients, atmosphere and spirits. Dogs and owners are both well-looked after on the patio.

Milkbar (Parkmore)

As the undisputed spot for any gathering – from Friday after-work drinks to long lazy weekend lunches – Milk Bar in Parkmore knocks it even further out of the park by welcoming dogs too. Provided they’re well-mannered and on a leash, they can join you for an afternoon beer and burger in the sun.

Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream (Parkurst)

Looking to cool down on a hot summer’s day? Ice cream is a no-brainer, and at Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream store in Parkhurst, you can even take your pooch along for their own ice cream. Made from peanut butter and frozen yoghurt, you’ll even be tempted to take a lick of one.

Picobella Trattoria (Melville)

Locals and their dogs go to Picobella for an outer elevated veranda area, honest and good-value Med-influenced Italian food, and a beautifully calm vibe. All recipes originated in the heart of Italy.

River Café (Sandton)

This is the place for relaxed open-air meals and snacks with your best friends and family. On Fridays it’s popular for sundowners and early suppers and, as long as your pup is on a leash, they’re welcome to enjoy lunch with you.

Soul Souvlaki (Maboneng)

Soul Souvlaki is one of the hippest places to get all the delicious and fresh homemade tastes of Greek cuisine in the trendy area of Maboneng. Dogs are welcome outside.

The Usual on Grant (Norwood)

Savour a cup of coffee as your pet is provided with water at this friendly café. Just make sure to grab a table outside during breakfast or lunchtime.

Voodoo Lily Cafe (Birdhaven)

The food is organic and sustainable at this friendly caring eatery, and breakfasts are particularly good. The airy and beautiful space is welcoming to dogs in the outside area, even offering them their own menu with organic chicken-breast slices, organic chicken livers and puppy biscuits.

Vovo Telo (Lonehill)

Grab a spot outside with your dogs and let them enjoy a bowl of fresh water while you sip on frothy lattes and enjoy breakfasts with homemade bread.
